December Currently and Holiday Stuff
So it is that time again..here lately the only time I post. Sorry! It is Currently time..
This Thanksgiving we went to my husband's aunt's house in La Grange, TX. The kids really enjoyed it. Here are some pictures.
We decided this year we would start Elf on the Shelf. Our elf arrived the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
He was waiting on our Christmas train. He brought them the movie Arthur's Christmas.
We named him Arthur which came from the movie he brought us.
He also brought us breakfast.
Also that Saturday morning we painted with Santa. Santa had added his handprint to a plate and then we added the kids' handprints to it. Then they painted a snowman ornanment. Santa arrived to take pictures and with a little surprise..reindeer ears.
Concentrating really hard!
Waving to Santa from far away was perfectly fine but as soon as we go close she didn't want to touch him.
We convinced her to go touch Santa's bell bracelet and she was ok with that but as soon as she touched it she was gone.
We saw our friend, Hallie, there!

For a project at school, the kids had to turn a pumpkin into a character from a book they were reading. They came out very cute!!! Here are some pictures of my class' pumpkins.

October Currently
I know it has been awhile. I haven't been on here since before school started. I don't know how people keep up with their blogs and do everything else. I'm exhausted by the time I get home from work, I play with Addi and sometimes make dinner. My husband is the cook in the house. When I put Addi to bed...I go to bed. So I don't have time. For all of you that can keep up with your daily lives and your blog..I'm really impressed and give you four stars!
So the school year..well it has been a rough start to the year for a couple of reasons. I have a class of talkers. Trying to get them to realize there is a time and place to talk has been a real struggle. My friend and teacher that has been with me since I started teaching volunteered to leave our school so her daughter could stay. Both mother and daughter worked at our school. We didn't have enough students so we lost two teachers to other schools. It was and still is sad!
I know I'm a little late but here is October's currently.
Farley introduced Scarecrow Pete to me last year. I loved it!! I can't wait to read it this year.
If you haven't already go link up to Farley's page.
One of my goals this summer was to finally put a lesson up on Teachers Pay Teachers. I didn't get to do that before school started but I finally have a lesson up on Teachers Pay Teachers. It is a measurement lesson that I put together last school year for 3rd and 4th grade. I'm sure everyone has heard or done something like it before. It is called Measurement Games. The students will participate in events where they will have to measure using a ruler or a scale. They will measure in customary units. After all the results are in, the students will convert the gold medal results into inches, feet, ounces, and pounds. There is some prepping to do but I listed all the materials you need. In the lesson, I give a day by day account of what to do. I made medals for the students. I'm really excited that I finally put something on Teachers Pay Teachers!!!
I am going to try my hardest to keep up with this but if I don't please don't hold it against me. :-)

Birthday Party
My daughter's birthday was last week. I have been focusing on her party for the last couple of weeks. We had a Minnie Mouse party. We asked everyone to wear their favorite Disney character.
On her actually birthday my husband took off and we spent the day with her. We went to her gym class and afterwards went to Morgan's Wonderland. She loved it. Of course we had cake. Here are some pictures from that night.
Her party was this past weekend.
I can't believe it has already been 2 years. It has gone way too fast!!!
Now it is time to focus on work. We go back to work on Wednesday. I have already been up to my classroom several times. Once I have everything set up I will take pictures. I'm headed there now.

August Currently
Here is my August Currently!
I haven't done much school related this summer. I have been having fun hanging out with my daughter. Last week, I went to a three day workshop on Reading and Writer's Workshop. It scares me a little because I'm not quite sure how we are going to get everything in. I'm a fourth grade teacher which means in the GREAT state of Texas we have a writing test. According to what I went to this past week we are only suppose to have 30 minutes for writing. I may not be correct on the exact amount of time, but I know it wasn't a lot of time. I have only been teaching writing for a year and half, so maybe it is possible but....I'm not seeing it. I know there is a writing component in reading but I still don't see it.
On a different note...I can't believe my daughter will be TWO on Thursday! Time has flown by. We are having her party this weekend. The main theme is Minnie Mouse Picnic, but we also have the other Mickey Mouse Clubhouse characters too. It is the red Minnie Mouse not the pink! I'm not a fan of pink. We asked everyone in the invite to wear their favorite Disney character. Once I have pictures from the party I will post them.

July Currently
The last couple of days haven't been much fun. My daughter hasn't been feeling well. Took her to the Pedi Urgent Care yesterday afternoon because she was refusing to eat or drink anything and was being very lethargic. Appartnely she has an ear infection. Today is she is a lot better. She is eating, drinking and playing. So I'm relieved that she is back to her normal self because I was a little worried there.
Well here is the July Currently.
Go to Oh' Boy 4th Grade to link up and do the Currently.

Summer Break
I have finally completed a week of summer vacation without any PD or summer camps. I decided that this past week I wasn't going to do anything productive. I wanted a week of just hanging out with my daughter, reading, and watching TV. I also threw in some shopping. I'll start with the hanging out with my daughter..we painted using condensed milk mixed with color.
She is showing me her hand with paint on it. She does not like to have anything sticky on her hand. She wanted me to wipe it off.
Now would I do this again..probably not. It took forever to dry. I'm sure if she hadn't caked on the paint it would've dried faster but she is 22 months so that isn't going to happen. You can't tell from the picture but the paint is shiny.
She really enjoyed painting so I might have to give in and actually go get paint.
It actually rained which doesn't happen very often in south Texas so I decided to take advantage and let her play in the rain.
After she dried off, I put some new clothes on her and decided to let her go outside in the rain with an umbrella (brella as she she calls it).
I have enjoyed this week with her. Thank goodness we have a lot more weeks of summer left.
I have started planning her 2nd birthday. The theme is going to be a Minnie Mouse Picnic. Once I start putting things together I will take pictures.
I read a book this past week and I can honestly say it was one of the funniest books I have read. It actually made me laugh out loud.

Here is the book description from Amazon: Sometimes, the hardest part of finding love is keeping a straight
face...
For Jamie Newman, being a single guy isn't proving to be much fun, especially when confronted with a sexually belligerent divorcee and a goddess so far out of his league she might as well be a different species.
Mind you, being a girl in search of love isn't a bowl of cherries either. Just ask Laura McIntyre, who's recently contended with a horny estate agent on a quest for light relief and a rabid mountain bike enthusiast with a penchant for displaying his genitals.
When Jamie and Laura bump into one another (quite literally) it looks like their luck may have changed - but sometimes finding the right person is only the start of your problems...
Based on real-life tales of dating disaster and relationship blunders, Love... From Both Sides is a warts-and-all romantic comedy for everyone who knows how tricky (and occasionally ridiculous) the quest for love can be.
Now on to the TV watching...I'm excited because my summer shows have started..Royal Pains, and Neccessary Roughness. Army Wives will be starting soon too. :-) A new show has started on ABC Family called Bunheads. I have only watched two shows but it seems interesting.
