October Currently

I know it has been awhile.  I haven't been on here since before school started.  I don't know how people keep up with their blogs and do everything else.  I'm exhausted by the time I get home from work, I play with Addi and sometimes make dinner.  My husband is the cook in the house.   When I put Addi to bed...I go to bed.  So I don't have time.  For all of you that can keep up with your daily lives and your blog..I'm really impressed and give you four stars!

So the school year..well it has been a rough start to the year for a couple of reasons.  I have a class of talkers.  Trying to get them to realize there is a time and place to talk has been a real struggle.  My friend and teacher that has been with me since I started teaching volunteered to leave our school so her daughter could stay.  Both mother and daughter worked at our school.  We didn't have enough students so we lost two teachers to other schools.  It was and still is sad!

I know I'm a little late but here is October's currently.

Farley introduced Scarecrow Pete to me last year.  I loved it!!  I can't wait to read it this year.

If you haven't already go link up to Farley's page.

One of my goals this summer was to finally put a lesson up on Teachers Pay Teachers.  I didn't get to do that before school started but I finally have a lesson up on Teachers Pay Teachers.  It is a measurement lesson that I put together last school year for 3rd and 4th grade.  I'm sure everyone has heard or done something like it before.  It is called Measurement Games.  The students will participate in events where they will have to measure using a ruler or a scale. They will measure in customary units. After all the results are in, the students will convert the gold medal results into inches, feet, ounces, and pounds. There is some prepping to do but I listed all the materials you need. In the lesson, I give a day by day account of what to do.  I made medals for the students. I'm really excited that I finally put something on Teachers Pay Teachers!!!

I am going to try my hardest to keep up with this but if I don't please don't hold it against me. :-)

  1. Sista, you are singing my song. Teaching is one busy, exhausting, exhilarating job. I sacrifice housework, that's how I do it.

I hope you get that massage!

  2. I'm with ya, I don't get how some of these fabulous bloggers keep up with it all either! I guess that's what makes them so awesome ;) or maybe they don't sleep! I love listening to the quiet, my husband says you can't but I think you can! Happy Fall =)
